Xuyen Moc 5/10/2007
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dennis and Mai Spencer, precious in our Savior, Jesus Christ.
On behalf of the church of Xuyen Moc and Binh Chau, I say hello to you and your precious family and the whole body of Christ in the church in Tucson (CFC). Thank you so much for remembering us in your prayers, interceding for us, and sharing in the good work of the Lord of all six churches in Huyen Xuyen Moc province, including the church in Binh Chau.
We rejoice because the churches have been very fruitful despite many difficulties to overcome. We are so blessed. We ask that you all continue to pray for us that the Lord will help us to overcome the difficulties still before us in doing the Lord’s work here. Please pray for the following:
- That God will bless us to lead 200 souls into His kingdom in 2007.
- That the government will recognize the church in Binh Chau and the church in Tan Lam.
- That the transfer of the deed to the land in Binh Chau would be approved by the government.
- That God would open the doors for us to preach the Good News in two new towns, Bung Rieng Nhu Lam and Bong Trang. The population of these two towns is 14,000 with no Christian church there.
- That the organization and the funding of the summer Bible schools will go well. The youths will go to the central mountain city of Dalat and the young children will come to the Mother church in Xuyen Moc (Ba To). We are expecting 115 children to attend in Xuyen Moc. The financial cost will be 12 million Vietnamese ($800 US Dollars).
- That the ceremony organized by the Evangelical Church of the South to have the government officially ordain Pastor Quy (after 14 years of applying) and recognize 5 of 6 churches (Binh Chau being the only exception) be scheduled soon. ****In a phone conversation with Pastor Quy after this letter was received, this event is scheduled for June 29, 2007. Pastor Quy invited us to the ceremony, but we are unable to attend. ****
- That the church in Binh Chau would be able to purchase the remaining land next to the church (approximate cost $35,000 US Dollars) to develop as a conference center for all Christian churches in that region of Vietnam. This land could provide a future home for a school for children in the area to learn God’s way to be able to serve in God’s Kingdom, a mercy ministry to meet the needs of many poor people and to open the door for evangelism, to teach and train the young leaders of the future churches in God’s Word, and many more uses for God’s work.
- That the Mother church in Ba To would be able to purchase an additional 5 meters of land next to the church to extend the church to have room for growth and fellowship. The church is now very small. The sanctuary is only 6 meters wide by 14 meters long with the entrance into the church only 2 meters wide and 32 meters long. The church building is old, and when it rains, it is damp and the air is polluted. It is very hot and many of us get sick.
On behalf of the church, I wish to invite Mr. and Mrs. Dennis, and the lady friend of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis (Kathryn Farris), Pastor Matt and his wife, and any of the brothers and sisters who have supported us and have a heart for the Lord’s work to come to our church. Please come and share God’s Word with us and especially train the ones to go out and witness to non-believers. Train us to be on fire to be good disciples for Jesus.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dennis, when I find out the date for the ordination I will let you, your pastors, and your church in Tucson know.
I am sending this letter to you by way of an American pastor who has been in Vietnam teaching and is now returning home. I write this letter so you can pray for us and know of the Work of the Lord here. Thank you for your love for us. I should end this letter now.
I pray that God would be Glorified forever and His love and peace and prosperity be in you and your family. Amen.
Nguyen Dinh Quy
Senior Pastor
