Xuyen Moc District

Ba Ria, Vung Tau Province. November 30, 2005.

Dear Pastor, Pastoral staff, Ministries staff, and all of the Lord’s children in Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona.

First of all, on behalf of God Church in Xuyen Moc district, we’d like to send to you and your families our warm regard. May God bless on you and your Ministries.

Last days, we were very happy, because you were interested in praying for our church. Especially you supported for building Binh Chau church house, our branch church as well as sending Mrs. Spencer to come here to preach good news to Binh Chau area and other places. Thank God for her mission. She took a lot of people in this place to the Lord.

We’d like to tell you some more about Binh Chau church. In the past, this church had a lot of people who believed in God and they often gathered to worship God in a Christian’s house. But because of their hard life, they didn’t gather to worship God regularly. Gradually, they lost their faith. Our mother church frequently sent the worker of the Church there to visit and looked after them. But they didn’t still return to worship God. We think Mrs. Mai Spencer is the Christian who is full of God grace. She came there and used the Lord’s words to help them and they become stronger and eager now. Mai kha’s house where the church gathered to worship God is crowded now. We need another place. Maybe through some photos taken, you can understand some more about this place.

When we are writing this letter to you, Binh Chau church house is being built. We think when you come to visit us next year, it will perhaps have already being built. But there is one thing make us anxious, that is the church in Binh Chau is growing and spreading thanks to Mrs. Mai’s witness and these new Christians haven’t grown up yet in the faith. We really need Mrs. Mai in order to visit and look after them. We expect that you will send her to return here soon.

We would like to tell you some more information about our church so that you know it will and pray for. It was set up in 1990. The mother church is in the center of Xuen Moc district, Ba Ria, Vung Tau province, South Vietnam. Total Christians are about 550. We have four branches (or sister churches). They are Binh Chau, Hoa Hiep, and Bao Lam churches. They are names of the villages of Xuyen Moc district and every place is about 20 kilometers far from mother church. Two of those three church houses was built or is being built. But Hoa Hiep church house was only built temporarily with light material. It is now decayed and waiting for rebuilding (we have some photos of this church taken by Mrs. Mai).

In addition, we are planning to set up a new branch church at Hoa Hoi village that is about twelve kilometers far from the mother church. There are about eighty Christians here. So we will have one mother church and four sister churches around. However, we still have some difficulties because of local government. This will be told clearlier by Mrs. Mai. We wish you will help us with pray and support. To rebuild the church house that was decayed so that the lord’s children here will have a better place to gather for worshipping God.

Last of all, May God be with you and your ministries.

Love in Christ.
Chairman of the church.
